Reflections on the forum

Lisa talked about raising the bar if students see their studies relevant to their professional work. I agree with this because it is easier if a student sees their study relevant to their work. It also creates a more authentic learning experience. As a strategy to achieve this, Lisa suggested supporting students to develop a professional identity. A professional identity helps students to create a context for their learning. One of the ideas I came away from this forum was; that perhaps the integration of personal learning spaces such as PebblePad could support in the development of this professional identity. A personal learning space such as PebblePad can assist students to clearly identify their strength and weaknesses with the use of profiles, rating themselves and providing evidence for their skills. This information can then be shared with others.
