Creating a Collection

Follow these steps to create your own collection of pages. You'll need to have created at least two of your pages first. You can create and add more pages, or remove pages, after the Collection has been created. You can create as many collections as you like, but a page cannot appear in more than one collection.

To start, go to the Collections page and click the "New Collection" button.

Enter a title for the Collection - this will appear at the top of each page in your collection, so make sure it accurately conveys the purpose of your Collection. The description is optional - it appears underneath the title on each page of the Collection - it's usually a brief abstract of what the Collection is all about.

The Page navigation bar check box, when ticked, displays navigation tabs across the top of each page in the Collection. Alternatively, you could untick this option and add a "Navigation Block" to each page like the one in the right column of each page in this Collection - this is something you need to do when you are editing your pages.

At this point, you choose which pages you want to add to your Collection. You can only add pages that have already been created. You can come back and change this later if you decide to add more pages.

You now need to set the order in which your pages will be presented. The page at the top of the list is your first page - usually a Collection has an introduction page that introduces your theme and sets the scene for the other pages. It's the first page people see when they visit your Collection.

Adding and removing Pages in a Collection

If you've decided to add more pages to your collection or remove others you've already put in it, you can go back to the Manage Pages settings to make these changes.

Add a Navigation Block to a page

After you've created a Collection you might like to add a Navigation Block to the pages in your Collection. This will display a tidy list of all the pages in your Collection and make navigating between your pages easier. I like to add a Navigation Block early on, so I can use it to navigate between pages whilst working on them.

You'll find the Navigation Block widget under the "General" tab - just drag it on to the page and place it in position.
