Method 1: Use SlideShare to embed a presentation
Here is an example of a slideshow that has been 'embedded' in an ePortfolio page. It has a navigation bar at the bottom for moving back and forward between slides, and displaying the presentation in full screen with the button in the bottom right corner.
To be able to do this you'll need to first head over to SlideShare.net and sign up for a free account, or you can sign in with your Facebook or Twitter account. SlideShare allows you to upload and embed PowerPoint, Word and PDF files, but note that free accounts have no file privacy options, so any files you upload to SlideShare will be in the public domain. If privacy is a requirement, try out Method 2.
Copy the SlideShare URL
Once you've uploaded your slideshow or document to SlideShare, view it in SlideShare then copy the page URL from the address bar at the top of your browser (select the URL then right-click it and "Copy").
Insert the presentation into your page
Once you've created your ePortfolio page, click the "External Content" tab then drag the "External Media" widget into your page.
Next, paste in the SlideShare URL.
Method 2: Embed a presentation in an image gallery
An alternative to using SlideShare, if you want to keep your presentation private, is to save your slides as images and create an image slideshow with the Image Gallery widget.
The following is an example of the same presentation displayed as an image gallery slideshow. Note that the navigation arrows are on the left and right sides of the slide, and clicking the slide will open it on a seperate page at its original size.
This method requires saving your PowerPoint slides as JPEG images. To do this, open your slides in PowerPoint and "Save As..." choosing "JPEG" as the type to save as. After clicking Save choose "Every slide" to save to this format. All your slides will then be saved to one folder as individual .jpg files.
Next, upload your image files to your ePortfolio file space - from the "Content" tab select Files. Then first create a new folder for your images. When uploading your images you can upload multiple files at once. Hold down the Control key as you select each file.
Once your image files have been uploaded, go to the "edit content" view of the page you want to add the slideshow to. Under the "Files, images and video" tab, drag the Image Gallery widget onto your page.
Next, add a title for the slideshow (or leave it blank). Select the option to "choose individual images to display". This will allow you to select each image in the order you want them to be displayed. For a slideshow, the default width is 400. If this is too big or small for your page you can come back and edit it to increase or decrease the size.
To view your new slideshow, go to "Display page" and test it out.
