eP Activity 1: Login to the ePortfolio from a learnonline course site
- Login to any of your learnonline course sites.
- Locate the link to the ePortfolio in the "Course Essentials" block (usually the top block in the left column).
- Click the link labelled "ePortfolio" and you'll be taken to the ePortfolio system automatically. There should be no need to log in again. Your ePortfolio account will be created the first time you do this.
Tip: there is a link to the ePortfolio system from every course site - following it will mean you won't have to log in again. You can also go directly to the ePortfolio system, at this URL: http://ep.unisa.edu.au/ -- don't forget to bookmark this page as you may visit often.
eP Activity 2: Get to know your dashboard
Your dashboard page is the first page you see after logging in to the ePortfolio. Your dashboard is customised for you and contains a summary of all recent ePortfolio activity as well as shortcuts to many common ePortfolio functions. It's a good starting point.
- Watch the following video for a guided tour of the dashboard.
- Explore your own dashboard, taking particular note of your recent activity summary.
eP Activity 3: Build your public profile page
The following video will guide you through the process of entering your profile information and adding a profile picture.
- Login to the ePortfolio system.
- On your dashboard, click the "Update your profile" icon in the "Create and Collect" section.
- Work through the four profile tabs entering any relevant information you want to display on your profile page.
- Under the "General" tab, click the avatar picture and upload a photo of yourself to use as your profile picture. When uploaded, set it as your default profile image.
Part two: Build your profile page
The following video will guide you through the process of creating your public profile page.
- Click on your name in the top right of the page to view your profile page - the page you’ll see as a new user already has some empty content blocks by default.
- Click the "Edit this page" button in the top right.
- First, consider changing the layout of your page - click the "Edit layout" tab. Think about which of the possible layouts is best suited to the content you want to add to your page and how you want your page to look when it's finished. If you're not sure yet, that's okay - you can change the layout at any time.
- Return to the "Edit content" tab. You'll see more tabs under this for different categories of content you can add to your page - "Files, images and video", "Journals", "General", "Profile", "Resume", "External content". Click each of these in turn and take note of the different 'widgets' that appear below - these are the square icons with the dashed border around them, and they can be clicked and dragged onto your page. Holding your mouse cursor over each widget gives you an explanation of what each one does.
- Start with the "Profile" tab and locate the "Contact information" widget and drag it into one of the columns on your page - you can move it later if you decide to change the position.
- Select the contact information you want to display on your profile page. Remember, this page is public, so only reveal the contact details you're comfortable putting in the public domain. Click save, and you'll see the new Contact Information block on your page.
- Next, add a bio and your profile picture to the page. Under the "Profile" tab, drag the "Profile Information" widget onto your page. Select the information items you want to display in this block, including your profile image.
- In the text box below, enter a short bio or introduction to yourself that tells others a little bit about you, what you're studying and your career ambitions etc. You can make the textbox larger if you need to by clicking the fullscreen button in the textbox toolbar (the button on the right of the top row of the toolbar - clicking the same button again will reduce the textbox and allow you to save it).
- To see how your page looks now, click the "Display page" tab.
- Try experimenting by adding other types of content to your page - maybe an image slideshow, a video or your resume.
For an example of what a profile page could look like, see the profile page for UniSA staff members Ben Kehrwald or Corey Durward (the example in the videos).
